smartpatient GmbH, based in Munich, is considered a specialist for digital medication management and has developed the MyTherapy APP, which is actively used by 1.4 million patients. It is suitable for use with almost all chronic diseases, supports adherence to therapy and offers, among other things, digital medication management, a diary for measured values and symptoms as well as printable health reports. In addition, smartpatient offers partners in the pharmaceutical industry its operating system as a basis for digital patient services. The founders and the current management team will continue to manage the business of smartpatient.

With the acquisition of smartpatient, Shop Apotheke is expanding its technological expertise in the field of digital health services. The digitalisation of processes as well as new digital offerings for patients are of particular importance for Shop Apotheke's future growth against the backdrop of the planned introduction of electronic prescriptions in Germany in mid-2021. In addition, the transaction creates new opportunities for the further expansion of smartpatient's partnerships with the pharmaceutical industry and the healthcare sector.
