Zoom Video Communications Inc. (“Zoom”) has announced the acquisition of Karlsruhe Information Technology Solutions – kites, GmbH (“Kites”), a German start-up dedicated to developing real-time machine translation solutions.
Nasdaq-listed Zoom, a US communications technology company headquartered in San Jose, is the leader in modern enterprise video communications, with an easy, reliable cloud platform for video and audio conferencing, chat, and webinars.
Kites was founded in 2015 and has academic roots with Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, where co-founders Dr. Alex Waibel and Dr. Sebastian Stüker are faculty members. It was started with the express purpose of transforming the latest research in speech translation technology into viable products.
GLNS advised Zoom on the transaction with partners Dr. Daniel Gubitz, Dr. Daniel Epe (both lead, Corporate/M&A) and Andreas Scheidle (Tax) as well as associate Thomas Magosch (Corporate/M&A).
