It’s that time of the year again – Willem C. Vis Moot Season

GLNS is happy to support teams of the Willem C. Vis Moot once again in the preparation for the pleadings in Vienna and Hong Kong.

The Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot ("Vis Moot") is the world's largest annual arbitration moot court competition for students focusing on international commercial law cases. The Vis Moot was first held in Vienna in 1994. Additionally, in 2003,  the Willem C. Vis East Moot was established in Hong Kong. Meanwhile, around 380 teams from universities all over the world from more than 60 countries participate in the Vis Moot.

During the competition, each team has to write a brief in English for both, Claimant and Respondent and has to argue their case before a three-member arbitral tribunal  consisting of practitioners and professors from around the world. The oral hearings will take place in March and April. At the end, briefs and pleadings will be evaluated, and one team will be chosen as the winner.

This year, all pleadings and events will take place virtually. However, the enthusiasm of the participants and the commitment by the organisers will of course remain the same!

Anyone who took part in the Vis Moot during their studies knows: Once a Mootie, always a Mootie. Therefore, the former "Mooties" of our firm (in particular Counsel Julia Klesse and Associate Maike Michels) are looking forward to assist some of the German Vis Moot teams by hosting (virtual) test-pleadings again this year. GLNS is also excited to be a supporter of the "All Munich Rounds", a pre-moot, in Munich.

We wish all teams all the best and a great finish of the current moot year!
